My talk with Jurri

So, after just recently finding out that Jurri had a problem with me, I decided to wisper him in game and see what was up and appologize with whatever I did. When I talked to him he informed me that his problem was with a lot of the posts that I made at the end of BT and how the same "dead weight" that we're dropping now was the dead weight that BT tried to drop and that I defended (at times fairly militantly). I appoligized for some of the remarks I said and admitted he was right about some of the people who were problems in BT, but I hadn't seen it because BT's leadership was never inclined to discuss or explain any of their decisions and I hadn't ever really helped to run a raid sized guild etc... Anyway, the conversation went on and he talked about how he really respected Bish and Bech etc and it was sad how Darkspear wasn't ever really going to have success in BWL... So I brought up that we were looking to drop Brang and some of our other dead weight and were hoping to get back together with him and some of the other oldschool guys before this server died and he told me, and I quote "If you change names, I can bring about 30 awesome people. Thats all I'm going to say about that."

So, there it is. I haven't really decided how I feel about this yet, especially as Jurri wasn't exactly being the nicest guy about it, its something worth thinking about.

Re: My talk with Jurri

I'll probably be in game tomorrow, I'll talk with him and see if I can dig a little deeper.

Edit: Yeah, I'm not really sure how I'd feel about this either, nothing is too urgent though, we do have time, especially with the holidays.

So what he's saying is if we reform under a different name, we can get a whole new guild and start this all over again?

To be blunt, I don't like it.

If that is indeed the direction you take I will stay behind and try and rebuild Hammered again.

Re: My talk with Jurri

Hes asking for a round 3...

I have put a lot of emotions, time, and thought into hammered. It hasnt gone the way I hoped it would be, but going another round with the guild lottery. With all the months we have invested in people while growing at an incredibly slow rate ourselves, my patience has worn rather thin. I'm willing to stick with the crew we have built up thus far, even with all its problems, but I am not willing to gamble it all for another round.

Remember how cool we thought the bt crew was when we merged? Is there a single person here who thinks that we would not have a far more emotionally stable and socially bonded raiding guild today if we had not merged? The same offer is given to us now, and I do not want to give up the kingdom we have rebuilt.

I see this as such a similar deal to the BT merge, but worse. What made me interested in BT was one person: Jubana. To this day, I have yet to meet a man online who has such a combination of intelligence, wisdom, and patience. He was an officer in BT, he NEVER bought into the bullshit, even during those times when I did, he did all the homework for the whole guild, and yet...it still wasnt enough.

After discussing possible guild outcomes with litiga about a month back, I kinda came to the conclusion that a game is just not worth another risk of months of futile effort. If hammered falls, I'll either go see what my chances are with nurfed or screw around on Rakion until a better option pops up.

Re: My talk with Jurri

Again, apologies for bumping old shit.

This reminds me of waaay back in the day when it was a question of either merging with Mayhem or with Black Wind...we didn't go down the "ZOMG EPIX" road that time and it's turned out phenominally well. Then we tried that, and it was not so good, there's probably a lesson in that somewhere, not sure.

I think that with some careful pruning we can kick this guild into shape, both casual chill and bg style, and hard fucking core raiding style. The difficult part will be getting people who are usually chill to pay attention and not try and ride the free loot train. This isn't so soherent i'll add more later probably.
