Re: Music to WoW By!

Suggest some good trance for me tens. The best tune I have heard so far is "Crecent Suns" and I was hoping that you could hook me up with some artists who make similar sounds.

Shavbot tells me 'Texas Faggots' is good, take that as you will. I have one of their tracks and it's trance-y. Also look for Infected Mushroom, I enjoy their stuff. I listen to a lot more ambient than trance though.

You might also find this wikipedia entry to be informative.

On a more related note, what do you think of the song?

Re: Music to WoW By!

Too harsh for me to listen to while playing. Too strong of a beat will alter my playing response times and make me suck. Catch me on AIM so i can send you cresent suns. If I can find more of that calm and strong theme for bgm, then I'll be effin jolly.

My one link to "Back to mad" (the only song of Texas Faggott's that I've listened to / is on the internet) is down, so I'll get it to you becho.

Also you might want to check out Lowtax's CD (he's got a sample on the site I just linked, and it sounds pretty good imo).

Eh, I suppose you could call it Lighter Trance then, or Ambient. E Nomine is good stuff though, I have 2 of their albums. You might also check out Mortiis's album The Stargate, which has a similar feel, but less dance-y and more medieval.

Re: Music to WoW By!

After a while, Oakenfold all starts to sound the same to me. Too many remixes of the same song and reused beats, I think. On the other hand, DJ Tiesto is quite nice, and so is Buddha Bar. Mmmm Buddha Bar.

Re: Music to WoW By!

DJ Tiesto is great. Although overall I split up my genres to fit my wow experience:

Hardcore/metal/hiphop - PvP (I realize this is overused :P)
Techno (all genres, normally trance) - Grinding
Techno (Deep House) or Alternative/Classic Rock (upbeat stuff) - Instancing

Re: Music to WoW By!

Epic raids deserve epic soundtracks.

My first suggestion, for action packed music, would be the Advent Children soundtrack (can be sent on AIM through requests). This music is only suitable for bosses because of the epicness of it all.

Regular mobs deserve my Sonata Arctica folders; Mary Lou, The Cage, My Land, Full Moon (I always have that on in Shadowfang Keep), Stronger Than All (Hammerfall/Sonata).

More quiet moments usually deserve from Nightwish; Nemo, I Wish I Had An Angel. End Of All Hope = ZOMG BOSS. Or wipes. Whichever.

There's all sorts of ways to mix and match. I like my setup though.

[inside joke]LOL NIGHTWISH IS EMO [/inside joke]

Ironically enough, since Szilard's comp's vent wasn't working I was listening to the FF7AC OST during the raid (until someone got me the IP, god bless them).

Oh and Sonata Artica pwns the fuck.

Re: Music to WoW By!

So the best part of FFVII AC was the Tifa fight in the chapel. The piano music combined with the grace of the fight. So good. Also the best moment in the movie is when she gets flung into the wall and it slows. Beautiful.

Anyway, for more music, I highly suggest the Flaming Lips. I just dug up a cd by them, and it's awesome, very chill. Perfect for instance running imo. It's weird, b/c this cd was popular for listening to while under the influence of certain substances I no longer consume. It's still damn good though, oh, the title is Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

Re: Music to WoW By!

so, bit of backround before i get into this. my group of RL friends(includes stug, shadar, shaidar, dominus, among others) had this song that we named the "battle song." the song is called Hope, by Apocalyptica. when our high school had a halo tournement, we brought a stereo with a CD that had just that song on it. we played it on repeat for about 8 hours or so. our two teams got 1st and 2nd place, and we walked away with 3 or 4 of the 5 raffle prizes.

now...where does this come in for us now? last night right before the final vael attempt, i put the song on. then the battle finished right as the song ended. thats right, we beat vael, because of the battle song. ;D
