Found this speech on another thread by bish, I decided I'm gonna make a sticky where it counts. These words are more important than ever now that shady individuals are trying to kiss ass and work their way into the guild as of late.

I for one only sponsor people I've known for months (barring crazy exceptions) Not everyone needs to take this long, but it's one of those things that personally I feel like I really have to know someone well to offer em a place.

As a sponsor you should really know your apps. You should definitely believe that they are 100% right for the guild. If you don't think so, comment on the app and don't sponsor. Someone else can sponsor, your misgivings could be bad first introduciton type stuff. Basically, the people you sponsor you should be proud of. It should be people you really enjoy playing with, and you think would fit in well. On another note though, sponsoring someone who gets voted out isn't a big deal...we might poke fun at you (like when Soog sponsored Jeffo, if anyone else remembers that guy...) but it isn't the end of the world.
