Need technical help.

Just got a new graphics card.
GeForce 6800GT 256 MB

Everything is golden after driver installation and that stuff, but, my screen has no red. Well, maybe a bit, but to put it in perspective... stug's sig. His name "stug" in it, is almost the same color as the black part behind it; and the red on his nemesis leggings isn't red, it's black. Also, brang's sig, her quelserrar isn't glowing green, it's yellow.

O_o

Anyone know how to give me back my red?

Re: Need technical help.

Try playing with the color balance in the advanced video options?

Right click somewhere on your desktop and go to Properties.

Settings tab.

Click advanced.

(now I don't have an nvidia card, so not sure where the setting is, but there should be either an Nvidia options tab, or a color or gamma balance tab.)
Not the color management, that probably won't help you.

You should be able to attempt to boost your red channel. If that doesn't fix it...well, what kinda video card did you have before, and did you COMPLETELY REMOVE the drivers if you had an ati?

And, where did you get the drivers you installed? From a cd, or from nvidias site?

If from the CD, I'd try totally removing all the video card drivers you have and download the latest nVidia drivers from http://www.nvidia.com

Let me know, cuase there's a bit more troubleshooting we can do

I found the color correction thing.

But I can't do crap from there, just doesn't fix it properly. That's the only "Color Correction" thing there is in the Nvidia tab. On the left you can see the other options for it.
Sadly, that does nothing, I go to the red option and play with it a bit, and nothing -literally nothing- changes.

As for the drivers, I removed my old GeForce4 and put this one in, turned on the computer, logged on. I first checked to see what card the machine was looking at, and it didn't register (obviously it shouldn't, all is going well), so I tossed in the CD that came with it and unintalled the old drivers, and put in the new ones. So yeah, from the CD, not the site.

Going to go do that now, results soon to come...

Re: Need technical help.

Nope, didn't work.

The card itself seems to be working just fine and all, in terms of performance. I just lack all forms of the color red.

Being red-color blind sucks...

Re: Need technical help.

Well, we know it's definately an output thing

Ok, moving on, are you using the DVI adaptor thingy, or the VGA adaptor (DVI is white and has a rectangular looking thingy, VGA is blue and has like I dunno, 15 pins in 2 rows or something)

Second question, if you are using one and not the other, did it come with the adaptor thingy to use the DVI (almost all monitors are VGA)

If possible, try switching to the other one (You'll need to open up the Display Properties, go to the Settings Tab, and click on the second little monitor thingy there, and check the box "Use this device as the primary monitor")

umm...if all of those fail, you can try calling nVidia's tech support, but you probably have a DOA (Dead On Arrival) video card :(

You should be able to send it back to whoever you got it from and get a new one.

hmm... hhrrrmm... I use VGA, the blue one with 3 rows that's sorta like a triangle with the top half gone.
I'll use the adaptor, wasn't sure what this little grey thingy was, and there was a popup about some "VGA controller" when I first put in the card without the drivers, didn't know what it was so I just ignored it O_o

As for the settings tab, I don't have a second monitor... hmm... gonna relog. <---(edit WoW, reboot, not relog)

Re: Need technical help.

ok so here is my problem..

i can log on anything that involves the internet(AIM, Xfire, Ventrillo, WoW, Internet Browser..etc etc)

but when it comes to games that involves finding servers like CoD2, CS, BF2 its craps on me.. like i would still be connected to AIM and such but the thing that comes up when its done searching for a server says either. Master server coul not be contacted (CS/CoD2) and Something is wrong with your network connections or Lost connection to server (BF2)... but the thing is...people are playing in the servers i try to connect to so its definetly not the game or its servers itself... and this started happened 3 weeks ago..

i have a wireless router... if that is any help at all..

i just wanna play my FPS games agian :[

Re: Need technical help.

Did anything change at all 3 weeks ago?

I mean...it shouldn't have just all of a sudden started happening.

Something had to have changed to cause this behavior.

It sounds like it may be a routing thing...or possibly your internet connection is blocking it. Are you at school, or on like cable or dsl.
